Define each channel’s role
Third-party channels can expand reach and generate incremental demand. Owned channels can support a direct guest relationship. Evaluate the full mix rather than treating every intermediary booking as a loss.
Consider acquisition costs, seasonality, guest segments, cancellations and contribution by channel.
Keep operations consistent
Define responsibilities across the channel manager, PMS and booking engine. Validate room mapping, rate plans and error handling before activating integrations.
Test reservations, modifications and cancellations and establish an escalation process for mismatches.
Review strategy with data
Track occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, estimated net contribution and booking lead times. Compare similar periods and document commercial hypotheses.
Strong distribution management is continuous: review campaigns, availability, guest messaging and goals rather than depending on tools alone.
